Purpose of the Role
To win profitable work.
To ensure that risks and opportunities are identified during the biding process, recorded and where applicable highlighted to the operations team.
Assist the Regional Manager in developing strategic plans to ensure the continued growth and success of the branch.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

Operations
Independently manage the estimating process, reviewing and collaborating with operations as needed, to ensure that tenders are accurately assessed, the most efficient system is selected and delivered to clients on schedule.
Proactively identify, recording and mitigating risks, while seizing opportunities to maximise project value. Complete the risk analysis identifying high risks / concerns to senior management.
Provide regular updates the Regional Manager and senior management, keeping them informed on tender progress, challenges, and any emerging opportunities. 
Actively seek input from operations to ensure that the estimating process remains aligned with regional goals and company standards.
Provide a strategic vision of the future and work to set strategic goals and actions clearly related to the overall aims of the business and ensuring objectives are achieved by implementing effective measurement protocols.
Ensure Tender handovers are executed effectively on receipt of order. Liaise with operations to ensure the correct design is fully implemented on the project.
Responsible for the scheduling of estimating resources to meet client needs.

Customer

Actively manage and update the client and tender database (Keller Dynamics), ensuring that all client interactions, bid details, and project specifics are accurately documented. Use the database as a strategic tool to track ongoing and potential projects, monitor tender progress, and identify opportunities for future business.

Finance    
Cost Analysis & Budgeting: Evaluate project costs and develop precise tenders, ensuring competitive yet profitable pricing.
Bid Preparation: Strategically structure bids to maximise profit margins and manage financial risks.
Supplier Negotiations: Engage with suppliers to secure favourable rates/pricing, optimising the tenders and project margins.
Financial Reporting: Regularly update stakeholders on tender financials, tracking costs against budget and highlighting potential savings.
Seek to maximise margins on bids by negotiating with clients and suppliers.
Take part in final negotiations/ pre-let meetings before award.

Experience/Skills/Qualifications/Personal Attributes

Minimum    
BEng/MEng degree or equivalent Civil Engineering/Geology related degree. 
Proven experience in a customer focused tendering role. 
Proven track record in leading successful tender processes and securing profitable projects.
Demonstrable success of managing multiple concurrent tenders.
Proven ability working as a geotechnical specialist.
A sound technical knowledge of a range of geotechnical products and solutions.
IT literate, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Dynamics.
CSCS Card Holder.
Full UK driving license.


Desirable    
Experience with Auto CAD. 
Experience of working on large infrastructure projects.
Working towards professional membership.
Proven ability to develop the business.
A comprehensive personal contact list with major clients.
